It's Gunnar Hagen Time!

One week to go until the Gunnar Hagen 7.5k and 30k classic race, January 8!  Are you ready?  Are you registered?  Have you clicked on the race information page and registration link on the Kongsberger website?

Here are a couple of thoughts to help you get your racing brain in the right place.

First, regular registration closes at 5:59pm on Thursday, January 5.  If you just can't decide if you're in or out, or you're a habitual procrastinator, late registration FOR A $30 LATE FEE is available from 6:00pm on Thursday, January 5, to 6:00pm on Friday, January 6.  After that, the registration door slams shut, so don't be thinking you're going to show up on race day and try to sweet-talk (or bully) the timing crew into giving you a special exemption.

Second, we're instituting a new bib pickup system this year, to make the process go more smoothly.  Here are the details:

The plan is for people to know their bib number before they get into their designated bib pickup lane.

In addition to the start list that timing chief Augustina emails to participants the night before each race,
there
will be waterproof informational signs, on stakes.  The signs will direct skiers to scan a QR code to see the startlist and find their bib number and/ or look at the posted printed start list.  Scanning the QR code will open up the Webscorer start list.  There will also be a physical/ written copy of the start list.

Augustina will post the QR code and the written start list at the parking lot and at the location where participants arrive at the road.

There will also be BIG SIGNS identifying each bib pickup lane.

Bib pickup 8:15AM-9:30AM.

Bibs will be handed out in specific lanes:

  • Red lane: bib # ending in 0, 1, or 2
  • Blue lane: bib # ending in 3, 4, or 5
  • Green lane: bib # ending in 6, 7, 8, or 9

Third, the course will not be closed to the public.  That means it is likely you will come across non-racing skiers out on the trails.  If you're a skilled-enough skier to race, you're skilled enough to get around anyone you come across, whether racer or non-racer, without yelling "Track!"  A friendly "Coming up on your left!  Hey, cute hat!" will suffice.

Got it?  See you there!
